Well, so far I’ve managed to keep all of my resolutions – which isn’t saying a lot seeing how I started two days ago, haha. Oh well. I’m one pound away from what I was pre-holidays and I actually got my butt on the Elliptical machine yesterday! I told myself I’d do it every other day, because let’s face it, I don’t want to over-do it. 😉
Tonight I made my Mom’s homemade barbecue recipe (a.k.a. sloppy joes). I ate it over one slice of bread, so it wasn’t too bad. Here’s the recipe, because it’s yummy!
1 lb. ground beef
1 small onion
3 T. ketchup
3 T. Worcestershire sauce
1 T. mustard (ground or regular yellow)
1 T. white vinegar
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
Brown the ground beef and onion in a pan. In a sauce pan, add the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, vinegar, sugar and water. Add the ground beef mixture and stir. Heat until boiling and then simmer up to 1 hour.
I also made a new recipe tonight as well with, wait for it, cauliflower! I found it in my Pioneer Woman’s cookbook…I love the Pioneer Woman. She is so calming to watch and I just want to be her friend. You can find the recipe HERE.
So, in addition to eating better, I’ve been starting my mornings off by reading a devotional from the First 5 App by Proverbs 31 ministries. The current study is on Exodus and talks about trusting God to use us, transform us, etc. through our trials. I do the study with a group of girls online – so it’s nice to get feedback and encouragement from them.
I’ve also downloaded the book Thirty-One Prayers For My Husband by Jennifer Smith (also known as the Unveiled Wife). Her husband wrote a book called, you guessed it, Thirty-One Prayers For My Wife. I went ahead and downloaded it for Rob 😉 Anyway, it’s a nice guide to help me pray for Rob and our marriage – so far, I really enjoy it.
